Since using Windows XP SP2, every update made Windows worse. In highschool I started using macOS and for a few years the experience was good enough, but things were not how I wanted it to be ( DE/WM, no package management, ... ). Even friends of mine started having hardware issues after major updates and reinstalling did not fix these issues. That's why I switched to linux.
For me the distro doesn't matter that much, other than that I prefer a rolling release model. I'm currently using Artix on my main machine.
